An ML Scientist has a bachelor's in the field and therefore not only knows more about the MLT and their specialty, but also earns more. So if possible, it is good to go back to school and earn a bachelor's, and some programs have it so you can get your bachelor's in 2 years while you complete the clinical part where you are already employed as a Medical Lab Technician.
